Background
PortalSoft, Inc. is a California corporation which grew from a division of an expert witness research firm. To keep pace with the number and complexity of cases in which it was becoming involved, the firm needed an effective and affordable document management solution.
Seeing that need in 2004, Founder Ajit Dandapani began to develop software designed specifically to address the sophisticated storage, search and retrieval requirements of litigation [lawsuits]. The software, Portal4Law™, made “ease of use” one of its cornerstone user benefits, but without compromising the functional breadth and depth required in the legal profession. The software solved the firm's document management challenge, and then matured into a system capable of client, matter, email and contact management, as well as time and expense accounting.
Recognizing the product's features have applicability beyond expert witness and litigation law firms, PortalSoft added transaction practice support in version 4 of Portal4Law, launching it in 2008.
To further drive down the cost, infrastructural burden, and implementation time of its solution, in fall of 2010 PortalSoft launched Portal4Law version 5, its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering. Simultaneously, an invoicing module was incorporated, giving users more of the capabilities essential to run a business, but without having to integrate or pay for additional specialized software. With Portal4Law version 5, PortalSoft is able to offer robust, enterprise-class features to the smallest of firms -- and at a price all can afford.
